When bands who don't like to mime have no choice in the matter...
In the eighties it was a common practice to have a band over at a chart show and have them do a mimed performance to their hit. Most of the times the artists did their thing without a problem but there were also those who HATED the fact that they had to mime because they felt that it would take away...

Hondo guitars
I used ti dis the hell out of them, but lately I've got a new warm and fuzzy feeling from less than brand-name axes. I retract any previous statements that made me sound like a snobbish A-Hole! I see some very fine specimens here on this thread!

Good Source for Intonation/Saddle screws?
Most people seem to have had very good results from Allparts. You may go back a couple days to a thread by Hulk called "Allparts suck!!!" or something along those lines. Basically, he had an issue with a switch, but a whole lot of other people came back by saying they've had no problems.

Totally NUTS thread...
Pistachios. I can eat so many, I appear to be turning green. I love cashews, too, but they really will add to you waistline. Pistachios are a better idea because you do have to hull them. Oh, and Planters dry roasted sunflower seeds, hulled and salted. Do toasted pumpkin seeds count?

Paisley Pickguard Project Complete!
This thread gave me an idea... so here is my homemade paisley pickguard, I drew it on a black paper with yellow and white color pencils, pens, etc and put a clear pickguard on top... the drawing part was long.... but I'm really happy with the result ;-)

Los Angelenos, a request...
My nephew had a moment of clarity this summer, on the occasion of his 23rd birthday, and quit his talented but dysfunctional band to go back to school. He went back to his earlier plan to go to film school (he did some cool work while in high school), and as he also wanted/needed a change of...

Nut files?
I got my nut files from LMII. They are also available at StewMac. There was a recent thread about nut files. I think it was by Scubadoo. I think this was it. http://www.tdpri.com/forum/tele-tech...uld-i-get.html

Dang, did I miss the USC bashing thread?
On Thursday night I was surfing the radio waves and came upon a discussion of Oregon State vs. USC on ESPN. I sat there for a few minutes not really knowing what they were talking about because I heard USC was down by 21 at the half. What!!?? That caught my attention and I soon realized it was...

A definitive saddles thread?
If you like the way your guitar sounds, and it already has brass saddles, compensated brass saddles is probably a good thing to do. It improves intonation. If your guitar has steel saddles and you like the sound, beware that a change to brass may reduce the highs a bit. How much depends on body...

the closing time thread
I played two jobs this past Saturday, but the evening gig was the really fruity one. There was this crazy drunk broad that kept messing with me all night. She sauntered up and blurted unitelligible phrases into my reluctant ear and showered me with spittle on several occasions. I did my sincere best...

Saint Blues Guitars......are special.
I assume you are talking about the recent Korean made St. Blues, the Bluescaster models? I've read some negative things about the build quality on them, but I haven't seen one in person, so that's just from reading on the internets. Glad you like 'em, perhaps the build quality issues have been...

Crate V18 Bass And Reverb Fix ~ $1.00
There is a thread over at http://www.thegearpage.net/board/sho...d.php?t=448629 that tells how to do it. I just did the mod. It's the real deal. It's amazing what a capacitor and a resistor change will do to the performance of a tube amp. I'd say the reverb is 10 times better, but could still...

Unwinding P90's for mor sparkle
I have an Epiphone Wildkat and the P90's are proprietary. They have chrome covers (which look great) the Bridge pup is twice as tall at the neck pup and the neck pup is slightly small that the bridge. This makes it difficult for me to replace the pickups with an after market pup and retain the...

What a difference a speaker makes!
I wrote in another thread about swapping out the Eminence Ramrod speaker from my 5F11 in favor of a Weber Alnico Signature 10S speaker. The Ramrod is a great speaker: very much in your face; with its powerful upper-mid voice, it will make a timid amp sound ferocious -- and loud! The Alnico...
